Dignified calm of the winter forest and whiteness of the snow divert your mind from typical urban chores and induce introspection.

Do you fancy an unhurried skiing excursion, a day out on snowshoes or perhaps you would like to experience a fast ride on snowmobiles or a down-slope descent? In Finland both nature and infrastructure are there to make you happier.

A simple and unpretentious ski walk or a quiet stroll in the woods would be easy around Torikko itself. If you fancy a well prepared ski track – Puumala has about 5 km where you can exert yourself.

Down-slope skiing buffs are in for a good time – there are as many as 4 skiing resorts around Torikko cottages 60 km away: Myllymaki in Imatra, Hasamaki in Yva, Tornimaki in Mikkeli, and Ruunarinteet in Savonlinna. You could have a good descent even in Torikko itself where level differences is about 45 m.

Skating on Saimaa Lakes – a very popular pastime amongst the Finns. Skating routes run on lake ice in Mikkeli and Savonlinna.

In the evening your pleasantly tired and contented selves will be further indulged in the hot sauna.
