Toriko

Welcome

The hilly region of Lake Torikko is surprisingly quiet. You might say without reserve – the nature is pristine and virtually untouched. The lake water is of drinking quality, as proven both by the locals and the lab tests. The place is home for beavers and roe deer and there’re lekking grounds of capercaillie too, where their roo-cooing can be heard. Flocks of cranes will occasionally roam the nearby fields. Mixed forests abound in mushrooms and berries good for picking. The high hilly range commands breathtaking views on Torikko and Saimaa lakes.

Swimming is also nice, as the sandy lake bottom is firm, the winds are never strong and the waves are never high.

Fish stocks are plentiful, as shown by good batches of large pike, perch, ide and other varieties of fish caught in the lake.

The place also boasts geographical merit: the Russian border (Crossing Point Svetogorsk/Imatra) is one hour drive (72 km), as are towns Mikkeli and Savonlinna. The touristic potential those towns have is good for travellers all around the year.

Each time you wouldn’t really want to leave!
